SUBJECT: Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the C5 Main Landing Gear (MLG) Door Gearbox Assembly Gearshaft, NSN 3040-01-313-6117UC, PN 42357-124. ITEM DESCRIPTION The Multiple Gears Gearshaft is a component of the High-Speed Gearbox Assembly used in the Emergency Door Main Landing Gear Actuator System on the C-5B aircraft. This steel gearshaft incorporates a bevel gear (first gear) and a spur gear (second gear) for a total of two gears. Impediment to Competition: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Triumph Gear Systems, INC (CAGE 82402), which developed it specifically for C5’s mission and operational requirements. The Government does not have rights to any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, Triumph Gear Systems, INC is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the NSNs performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The DLA/WAB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Triumph Gear Systems INC for the manufacture of the Multi Gear, Gearshaft in support of the C-5 Mechanical Program. Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 11 July 2025 to J.
