SUBJECT: The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the 20MM F-15E Ammunition Structure Assembly Container, NSN: 1005-01-298-2522, P/N: 10029110. ITEM DESCRIPTION: The Ammunition Structure Assembly Container is for the storage of 20MM caliber ammunition in its single bay design. Live and expended rounds are moved through the ammunition container by an endless loop carrier belt assembly. Rollers attached to the ammunition carriers, guide and control the carrier belt assembly though parallel tracks within the ammunition container. Complete round control is maintained by the cradling action of these ammunition carriers during straight line runs. Turn around sprockets are used to control the carrier at turn around points. Turn around cartridge guides provide guidance to each round as the round travels through the ammunition carriers, which open during turn around. The three sprockets beneath the second loop are the loading access unit which provides an interface for loading and downloading the system. These requirements are military unique and are not available in the commercial market sector. IMPEDIMENT TO COMPETITION: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is General Dynamics – OTS, Inc. (CAGE 05606), which maintains its configuration by part number and software version. The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, General Dynamics – OTS, Inc. is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the F-15E Ammunition Structure Assembly Container performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST: The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to General Dynamics – OTS, Inc. for the manufacture of the F-15E Ammunition Structure Assembly Container in support of the F-15E fighter aircraft. The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
