SUBJECT Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the C-130 Nose Radome, Part Number (P/N) 3333921-1, NSN 1560-01-417-5455LG. ITEM DESCRIPTION The radome is a composite aero shell that requires specialized tooling to produce. This radome assembly encloses the radar, glideslope and microwave landing system and is a critical part in the radar’s transmission efficiency and degradation requirements for the enclosed systems. The C-130 radome is military unique and not commercial. Any C-130 radome vendor(s) found would have to build radome’s to the military unique specifications and requirements of part number 3333921-1, NSN 1560-01-417-5455LG and meet critical performance requirements to include the requirement of specialized tooling to allow the part to match the complex contours necessary of the nose radome. IMPEDIMENT TO COMPETITION The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Lockheed Martin (CAGE 98897). Lockheed owns special tooling that was designed specifically for the Nose Radome that supports C-130’s mission and operational requirements. The Government does not own the full technical data package in support of this requirement. As a result, Lockheed Martin is the only known source with adequate knowledge of meeting the Nose Radome’s performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Lockheed Martin (CAGE 98897) for the manufacture of the Nose Radome in support of the C-130 sustainment effort. The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
