The VCXO Oscillator is part of the APY-1/2 radar for the E-3 AWACS aircraft. This surveillance aircraft uses sophisticated, high-performance, airborne radar for detecting location, altitude, course, and speed of a large number of targets. In conjunction with other mission systems, the radar provides the mission capability to detect, track, control, and report targets. This is a sole source requirement under FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements, under which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only Wenzel Associates (CAGE 62821). NGSC has selected Wenzel Associates as their selected source for the manufacture of this item, Wenzel part number 500-21199. Wenzel is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the Oscillator design, performance requirements, and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility with the APY-1/2 radar system. In accordance with FAR 5.207(c)(16)(ii) responsible sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement.
