The Defense Logistics Agency is conducting market research via a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify potential manufacturing/supply sources for a cargo hook (NSN 4030-01-187-0900, Part No. 145ES102-5) supporting the CHINOOK weapon system. The effort is associated with Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and the applicable NAICS code is 332510 with a 750-employee size standard. Because the Government does not own and cannot obtain the necessary data rights and reverse engineering is uneconomical, the acquisition is currently limited to a small number of responsible sources under FAR 6.302-1(a)(1). All businesses, including 8(a), small business, small disadvantaged, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned small business concerns, are invited to identify themselves, but contractors must meet prequalification and source-approval requirements. The selected contractor would be responsible for becoming a qualified source, including recurring/nonrecurring engineering, and for all manufacturing/production aspects such as supply chain management, logistics, forecasting, long-lead procurement, obsolescence issues, and final delivery.
