The requirement is for two units of a part that requires engineering source approval by the design control activity to maintain quality. Approved sources have unique design capability, engineering skills, and manufacturing/repair knowledge, and they retain essential data rights or technical data not economically available to the Government. An alternate source must qualify under the design control activity’s procedures, as approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity with jurisdiction over the intended application. Delivery is FOB origin.
