17--SHUTTLE ASSEMBLY
This is a new spares procurement for a flight-critical/critical safety item (ALRE) requiring engineering source approval by Naval Air Systems Command; only approved sources are eligible, though companies may submit a Source Approval Request. The item must be manufactured, tested, and inspected per NAWC Lakehurst drawing 622559 (Rev J), with 100% inspection of critical/major characteristics, interim/final inspections at the contractor’s facility, and final certification at Lakehurst, NJ. First Article Testing is required, with an estimated test cost of $5,000; Government evaluation takes 45 working days after receipt, with advance notice periods of 7–14 days for inspections and 14 days before testing. A 12-month warranty applies after the last delivery, and manufacturing/inspection records must be retained for seven years. Offerors requesting a waiver of First Article requirements must have delivered identical production articles within the past three years from the same production location.
