No more extensions to the deadline will be made for the Axle Assemblies. Packaging Response : Wood permitted. MIL-PRF-11264 containers must be robust enough to be reusable and meet performance/physical characteristics outlined in the spec. Axles often mounted on/fastened down to built-up robust skids. Securement of axle to container base can be wood blocking or metal straps/brackets. MIL-PRF-11264 requires removable covers so consider hardware used. Ref: MIL-STD-2073, Appendix C, Table C-II identifies wood crates suitable for Military Packing Level A based on size and weight. Ensure all the preservation and packing requirements on PRS page are met. Top drawings are source-controlled to Meritor Heavy Vehicle Systems (cage code 78500) The solicitation number SPRDL1-20-R-0120 and SPIs are attached. The solicitation MUST be completed in full- including all required clause fill-ins. With this axle, the power generated by the engine is carried through the transmission and driveshaft, which then goes through the differential and is ultimately transferred into the wheels, propelling the vehicle either forward or backwards. The axle acts as the mounting point for the wheels and differential and without it, the power generated by the powertrain would never make it to the wheels. Unlike other axles that can be considered a commercial off the shelf (COTS) product, this axle has been specifically designed to mount to the chassis and the wheels seen on this range of vehicles.
