The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Description: SOF AT&L-KR is currently seeking potential sources for the manufacture and delivery of reduced velocity rounds for market research purposes only. USSOCOM is interested in the below items: The 5.56x46MM Man Marking Rounds (MMR) Reduced Velocity Round (RVR) (Blue) and 5.56x46MM(MMR) Reduced Velocity Round (RVR) (Red) are rounds that are needed to support SOCOM’s training requirements in order to remove the health issues that have been affecting SOCOM Instructors and Operators due to excessive lead inhalation with the current legacy rounds. Until the lead is removed from these training rounds, there is no way to mitigate exposure because the lead exposure does not decrease when the rounds are fired outdoors versus indoors, as the lead exposure occurs every time a primer explodes. The RVR configuration is required to safely train with weapon configurations utilizing shorter (<14 inches) barrel lengths. The respondent must demonstrate and provide valid documentation that they have the ability to produce these types of rounds. Please identify any Proprietary information submitted.
