Technology must be ready for immediate use in an all-weather, all terrain environment tactical SSA. An Army SSA is part of a complex combination of facilities, methods and procedures designed to receive material into the supply system, issue the material to the Soldier, and eventually dispose of the materiel. Given that storage space is the most critical and basic resource of any SSA, SSAs must make the best use of all available space. Operating an SSA requires substantial accountability and management to adequately stock hundreds or even thousands of products to meet the needs of supported units, and every SSA in the Army is unique in that it operates in a different environment.
