Window child safety device Must comply with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F2090. Release mechanism(s) allow for emergency escape (egress) without keys, tools or special knowledge. Must be designed and installed properly limiting the window opening area, while maintaining the window structure integrity and durability. Provide protection against a young child inadvertently opening the window sash beyond the controlled open position., -Must have an emergency escape (egress) release mechanism(s) with two independent Single Action Mechanisms or one Dual Action Mechanism. All releases shall be visible. Window opening control devices (WOCD) and emergency escape (egress) release mechanism shall not reduce the window opening area beyond 4 inches/102 millimeter diameter. When opened past the controlled position, release mechanism(s) shall automatically reset when fully closed. Window sash must be able to be moved independently from the release mechanism(s). Shall be subjected to load testing in a fixture that permits loading in the opening direction of the sash. Minimum load test force shall be 75 lbf (334 N). Must be subjected to cycle testing for durability a 4000 cycle minimum.
