Request for Information (RFI) for Radiological Detection System (RDS)
The Department of the Army is issuing a Request for Information to identify sources capable of manufacturing, testing, and delivering a rugged, modular Radiological Detection System (RDS) consisting of a base unit and interchangeable probes for alpha, beta, neutron, and gamma detection. The system is intended to replace several legacy radiological survey meters across the U.S. military services, Coast Guard, and Special Operations Command, with Canada and the UK also participating. The government projects a need for RDS production through 2043, with approximate five-year quantities of 16,000 base units and thousands of various probe types, potentially under one or more firm-fixed-price IDIQ contracts. Respondents are asked to provide technical approach, production history, schedule, pricing, and compliance details, with access to the full performance specification requiring JCP certification, NIST SP 800-171 assessment, and CMMC Level 2 compliance. No performance location or budget amount is specified in the notice.
