The 48th Contracting Squadron at RAF Lakenheath has identified a potential need for a contractor to build and install a Confined Space Trainer specifically for firefighters. The location of the Confined Space Trainer will be installed and permanently fixed, bolted, and anchored inside Building 37 at RAF Feltwell, United Kingdom. The Confined Space trainer will be a maze having 3 levels each being 1,000 MM tall and the level lengths will be 2,000 MM. The entire maze will make an “E” shape design having one long main crawl way with 3 dead ends. The dimensions inside the maze will not change and will accommodate obstacles to be moved around to different locations. There will be 14 total obstacles that come with the maze, may reduce or increase this number depending on price. Obstacles will not be permanently fixed so that they can be configured into the user’s desired formation for training at any time. The desired obstacles are a manhole, crawling pipe, sash lock door, sliding door, inclined plane, slide, retractable floor, halved horizontal, halved vertical, halved diagonal, false floor, swing door. There will be 3 ramps and ladders that will be made of a 38mm waterproof chipboard with transparent resign coating. The entire maze shall be constructed of reinforced steel welded mesh and tubular steel. The maze will be open to be able to observe students inside and include quick release doors for student safety. A smoke generator is required to produce harmless fog by vaporizing a non?oily liquid in the preheated apparatus. The smoke generator will produce 1300 m³ continuously within 4 min and being fed from an external tank. The smoke machine will be mounted to a wall at desk height. Dimensions of the smoke machine to be about 500 x 375 mm, made of steel, and painted RAL 5007 brilliant blue. Smoke extraction system for ventilation may be needed after use of smoke generator. A portable sound box is required and should have 1 fire light effect with LEDs (Red & White) and have the option to install additional spotlights for greater light output, simulate various fire colors, and have 8 different sounds which are saved to a chip card. Sound box is to be battery powered and have a wide range of volumes to increase and lower decibels from an easy to use system such as a keyboard. The hired contractor will build and install entire maze and provide all materials for building and installation. Installation will take 1-2 business days. Installation will need to start ASAP once awarded.
