REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: Solutions to Enhance US Rocket-Based Combined Cycle (RBCC) Propulsion Technologies
This is a Request for Information (RFI) from the Air Force Research Laboratory's Rocket and Space Propulsion Division at Edwards AFB, seeking industry input on Rocket-Based Combined Cycle (RBCC) propulsion technologies using rotating detonation rocket engines with storable propellants. The focus is on identifying current technologies, industry base, test facilities, and investment areas to enhance US RBCC capabilities, with emphasis on weight minimization, scalability, mission utility, propulsion-airframe integration, and logistics. Interested parties are asked to address specific areas such as RBCC system characteristics, thermal management, liquid propellants (e.g., High Test Peroxide with RP or Jet Fuel), ground and flight test resources, computational tools, and flight demonstration opportunities. Responses must include company name, business size, and CAGE/SAM UEI, along with administrative information and qualifications, submitted electronically to the contracting officers. The government does not intend to award a contract based on this RFI, will not pay for response costs, and will safeguard proprietary information.
