The goal of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Systems Analytics Branch within the Warfighter Interactions and Readiness Division is to conduct basic and applied scientific and technical research to inform fundamental design principles and theories in human-machine teaming, human performance, psychological processes, and physiological indicators to enhance Airman efficiency and effectiveness across Mission environments. Within the Systems Analytics branch, the Meaning Making team addresses gaps related to existing limits in Information Environment (IE) analytics and tradecraft, assessment and characterization of influence (e.g., vulnerability to influence, fostering resilience) and anticipating threat (e.g., insider threat). This request seeks information to extend the state-of-the-knowledge regarding how and why and what (in terms of extremist narratives, stories, interpersonal influence, etc.) type of influence tactics and content are successful for influencing military members and veterans to mobilize to violence. Furthermore, this request seeks information to extend the current capabilities for training regarding signs of radicalization and mobilization to violence as well as prevention and fostering of resilience to influence.
