Request for Information (RFI) SG-XX Geosynchronous Space to Space (S2S) Radio Frequency Cross Link

Notice ID:RFI-16_09_2026

Space Systems Command (SSC/SYZ) is conducting market research via this RFI to assess industry capability for a high-TRL RF V-Band cross-link communication subsystem supporting the planned SG-XX proliferated constellation of free-flyer satellites with wide-field-of-view electro-optical payloads for scanning, tracking, and detecting Resident Space Objects around the geosynchronous belt. The SG-XX constellation would use an evenly spaced “string of pearls” configuration, with satellite-to-satellite cross links (half- or full-duplex) that maintain connectivity during nominal slew and manage data flow across the constellation to deliver near-real-time mission data. The RFI is limited to RF V-Band cross-link solutions only; alternative communications (optical, other RF bands, ground links) and SG-XX bus/payload topics are not requested, and responses are for planning only with no contract, payment, or solicitation commitment. The government seeks respondents with recent (about 5 years) relevant, low/moderate-cost, high-TRL flight or near-qualification experience; preferred communication payload build/production timelines of about 2 years, plus described schedule from Authority to Proceed to payload delivery, and experience with LRIP quantities (e.g., 10–24) and parametric recurring/non-recurring cost data. Responses should address technical details such as SWAP, antenna FOV/FOR, EIRP/G/T, data rates for 15,000–55,000 km links, acquisition/re-acquisition, space qualification, networking security, and a Firm Fixed Price build assumption; foreign firms may participate only at subcontractor level.
