Portsmouth Naval Shipyard intends to solicit a Firm Fixed Price contract to provide materials for the 288 parts / 3,245 items required to fulfill the complete material list replacement of identical parts of the current Emergency Diesel Engine on a Los Angeles-class Submarine. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source is capable of fulfilling this requirement. Fairbanks Morse Engine, (CAGE Code 7Q8V5). is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and thus owns the proprietary data – including drawings, equipment, and approved processes – required to perform this work. A solicitation will be available on or around 9/09/20. Justification and Approval for Sole Source will be posted prior to that date.
