The contractor is responsible for furnishing and installing (2) each, floating courtesy docks. This includes any necessary transportation, labor, materials, supplies and equipment required to install both docks as described in these specifications and to remove two existing courtesy docks at the Piedmont Park and Bluff View boat ramp locations. The removed docks shall be the contractor's responsibility to dispose properly off of Government property. New floating courtesy docks shall be of a design that will allow adjustments as lake elevations fluctuate. Clearwater Lake elevations can vary as much as 80', although the contractor is responsible for designing and installing an operable, public accessible dock from both park locations from the bank, per requirements listed herein. Contractor shall provide a complete bid package. This package shall include two line item quotes, one for Bluff View Dock location and one for the Piedmont Park dock location. The quote for each location must include in the price, cost for furnishing and installing new floating dock, all labor, transportation and materials, removal and disposal of the existing dock off of Government property, timeline/proposed work schedule, and detailed information showing overall dock designs, include drawings with dimensions of the docks, gangways, framework, dock overall capacity of persons, and the proposed anchoring and gangway wheel systems, and include detailed cut sheets showing type of cabling, lightweight concrete decking, land and sea anchors and a drawing of their proposed locations, winches, dock bumpers, anchors, and other proposed hardware. C.5 PRODUCT/SERVICES 5.1 Floatation Specifications: • Floatation shall be constructed of high density Polyethylene and be filled with expanded polystyrene. Floatation shall be dark in color and be resistant to gas, oil, and UV rays • Thickness of Polyethylene floatation material shall be at minimum 16 inches. • Floatation material shall have a minimum warranty of 10 years 5.2 Dock Framework and Decking Specifications: • Dock dimensions shall be minimum 15' X 30' • Dock material shall be no less than 3/16" hot dipped galvanized steel and reinforcing gussets at stress points of the same material. • Dock decking shall be lightweight concrete tiles and surface to be free of any tripping hazards, dock tiles will be securely attached to framing members. 5.3 Gangway Specifications: • Gangway dimensions shall be minimum 48" wide X minimum 40' long, constructed of hot dipped galvanized steel • Gangway shall have hot dipped galvanized steel hand and guardrail at 22"and 42" the entire length on each side • Gangway decking shall be lightweight concrete tiles. • Gangway shall have same style of floatation as main structure. • Gangway shall have 2 each - 15" in diameter or greater rubber tires and steel wheels on the shoreline side. These tires will be foam filled. 5.4 Tie Down Cleats. Tie down cleats shall be recessed into the decking and flush with the decking and shall be installed with four on the outer three sides of dock and spaced to moor watercraft. 5.5 Dock Bumpers. Composite, heavy duty, dock bumpers, will be required on all sides of dock. 5.6 Anchoring/Adjusting Winches. Winch systems shall be installed in such a manner as to allow for easy dock adjustments and not be a tripping/safety hazard. Winch shall be in such a position as to not interfere with berthing of boats on any side of the dock and must be at least 3/8" stainless steel cable. At least two sea anchors and two shore anchors will be set to hold dock into place. Installed winches shall have removable winch handles (furnish 8 new handles) to eliminate tampering from unauthorized persons. Winch stands and winches shall be hot-dipped galvanized, and be of a very heavy duty nature, with adequate cable capacity to meet the requirements listed below. The floating dock installed at Piedmont Park shall be able to accommodate a minimum of a 50' lake rise and continue to be functional. Once the lake level exceeds a 50' rise the dock shall be able to float freely and accommodate a lake rise greater than 80'. The floating dock installed at Bluff View Park shall be able to accommodate a minimum of 40' rise and continue to be functional. Once the lake level exceeds a 40' rise the dock shall be able to float freely and accommodate a lake rise greater than 80'. 5.7. All trash, pallets, crating, including existing courtesy docks or any other debris as a result of this install shall be disposed of properly, off of Government property at the Contractor's expense.
