John Day Dam Project has a requirement for purchasing a chipper for Resource Management Staff (RSM) as follows: Purchase chipper for safe and effective vegetation management, chipping, recycling, and disposal of brush and debris. Supports irrigation reduction and native vegetation management goals. Supports reduced carbon emissions and green management practices through reduced transportation, handling and disposal of materials and debris. This purchase would assist the Resource Maintenance Staff (RSM) conduct business in a more sustainable (economic and environmental) manner following Environmental Operating Principles “Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade” by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Chipper need: John Day RSM personnel are responsible for landscaping and vegetation management on John Day /Willow Creek property. At any given time RSM may need to conduct chipping operations on project for safety and security of project personnel and dam safety for downed limbs; hazard trees; reduce ladder fuels to prevent fire spread into tree canopy; reduce fuel load to prevent rapid wildfire spread; reduce invasive species populations; security fence clearing; and vegetation management for dam safety.
