Provide Soldiers with new knowledge, skills and techniques for use while swimming in both slick (no combat loadout kit) and in full combat loadout conditions. Upon completion of the level 1 course, Soldiers will have obtained the knowledge and skills to properly implement an aquatic strength and conditioning program with focus on injury prevention, rehabilitation and Soldier longevity. Upon completion of the level 2 course, Soldiers will have obtained the knowledge and skills to successfully execute a simulated wet gap crossing. Provide a five (5) day tactical swimming COI for up to 35 students per session once every three (3) months for a twelve (12) month period. Training shall be broken up into two sessions per day, a morning session and an afternoon session. Each COI shall cover and provide the following: The contractor shall provide a 1:20 instructor to student ratio. The total number of students shall be established no more than 7 days before a COI. Baseline testing and video analysis of Soldiers to critique specific body alignment and stroke efficiency and horizontal balance. Instruction in efficiency, stroke length, stroke rate and balance. Instruction in body rotation and body mass rotation. Instruction in open-water application, side stroke and pool fundamentals. Instruction in fin selection, surface swimming with fins, wetsuits, training aids and other combat equipment. Practical application shall include both slick as well as in full military uniform and equipment.
