The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and non-personal services necessary to service and maintain IT Parts Washers and Weapons Cleaners at the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee, Fort Lee, VA as defined in this Performance Work Statement except for those items specified as government furnished property and services. The contractor shall perform to the standards in this contract. The use of parts washers and weapons cleaners has the potential to generate large amounts of hazardous waste solvent on a regular basis. In order to reduce generation of hazardous waste Fort Lee procured a number of Inland Technology (IT) machines to replace the Safety Kleen machines that used flammable solvent. The Inland Technology machines use a lower VOC solvent with a high flashpoint that results in the generation of much less hazardous waste. The IT machines have a filter system that extends the useful life of the solvent, resulting in reduced waste generation. In addition Fort Lee has the ability to distill used solvent and return a portion of the used solvent to operational use. This further reduces the amount of waste generated and decreases the amount of new solvent that must be purchases. Continued operation of these IT machines is important in maintaining Fort Lee’s hazardous waste reduction efforts.
