The purpose of this sources sought notice is to conduct market research to determine if responsible sources exist by determining if this effort can be successfully competed and/or set-aside for Small Businesses. The proposed North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 339113 - Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing 800 employees. The Government will use this information to determine the best acquisition strategy for this procurement. The Government is interested in all small businesses to include 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran- Owned, HubZone, and Women-Owned small business concerns. Medical Readiness Contracting Office - West JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is seeking potential sources to provide a Custom Orthotics, braces, and prosthetic supplies. The Government’s requirement is to purchase this Custom Orthotics and Prosthetic Bracing, for the Department of Orthopedics, Orthotic lab, Brooke Army Medical Center, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas. All listed salient characteristics are applicable to custom spinal braces are listed below: a. Custom-made: To each individual patient to ensure a proper fit and address specific spinal abnormalities. The ability to accommodate unique anatomy/deformity, such as bariatric, pendulous abdomen or kyphotic spine, is essential in providing a proper fit and ensuring the effectiveness of the braces. b. Enhanced immobilization: The primary goal of using a Spinal brace in patients with Traumatic spine injury is to immobilize and provide stability to the injured area. A custom Spine brace offers better immobilization capabilities by providing precise support and compression, reducing the risk of further injury or misalignment. This reduces the risk of further injury or misalignment and enhances the overall effectiveness of the brace. c. Patient comfort: Traumatic spinal fractures can cause significant pain and discomfort. A custom spinal brace can be designed to provide optimal support while also considering the patient's comfort. The custom fit reduces pressure points and allows for better distribution of forces, leading to improved patient comfort and compliance. d. Timely Availability: The braces are fabricated and delivered promptly to support BAMC trauma mission of 24 hours/365 days service providing braces to in-patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Operating Department (OR) at any moment- allowing faster triage/discharge from the ICU or Post- op to the recovery unit. e. Pathology Specific: to treat a wide range of pathologies as prescribed by our surgeons and doctors. These pathologies include complex or multiple traumatic spinal fractures, Idiopathy Kyphosis, Pectus carinatum, Idiopathic Scoliosis, Spondylolisthesis, Lumbar Apophyseal fractures, and Pre- and Post-operative hip surgery, among others. f. Compliance Monitor: In the future the ability to incorporate a compliance sensor in Scoliosis braces. Compliance monitors empower patients and their parent to take an active role in their treatment. They can monitor their progress, set goals, and make informed decisions about their brace wear. g. Possible research tool: The use of compliance monitors can be used as a tool to ensure quality control in clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of scoliosis braces. By monitoring adherence, researchers can assess the reliability and validity of the data collected, ensuring that the trial results are accurate and trustworthy. h. Multiple impression techniques: The manufacturing process for the custom braces incorporate 3D scan technology, measurements, or molds to ensure precise fabrication of the braces. The use of scanning technology is preferred due to its accuracy, efficiency, and faster techniques. Additionally, Impression molds or measurements may be necessary to capture specific patient anatomical details that cannot be captured through scanning alone. i. Multi-treatment of spinal conditions: by incorporating two braces in one to treat patients with two routinely associated spinal conditions such as Idiopathic Scoliosis and Hyper kyphosis. Furthermore, this comprehensive approach also proven effective in addressing Pectus Carinatum and rib flare. By incorporating two braces into one treatment plan, we can provide an efficient and cost-effective plan to manage these conditions. This is not a solicitation.
