GENERAL - The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, barges, and equipment necessary to transport the equipment listed below from Louisville, KY to Pittsburgh, PA by river. Government will load and unload all equipment at both locations onto a barge. Contractor will provide a barge and transportation of the Government furnished equipment listed below. All barge movements are the responsibility of the Contractor. Securing and protection of the equipment is the responsibility of the Contractor while it is on the Contractor’s barge. Transportation must be by river. Bids for land transportation will not be accepted. Government will supply a crane, crane operator, and rigging at the locations specified above for loading and unloading of Government furnished equipment only. Contractor is responsible to position barge adjacent to Government facilities and for performing all actions on Contractor barge. Equipment to be transported: One (1) each Strut Nominal Dimensions: 6’ wide x 6’ tall x 110’ long Weight: 80,000lbs Two (2) each Hanger Assemblies Nominal Dimensions: 8’ x 5’ x 25’ Weight: 6,000lbs each Four (4) to Seven (7) each Shim Plates Nominal Dimensions: Each plate is 6’ x 6’ with thickness of ¼”, ½” or 1” The total thickness of all shims will be 4”, but the quantity of each size may vary. Weight: Total weight of all shims is 5,900lbs. Insurance - The contractor shall have towing liability insurance. Evidence of insurance shall be submitted to the government representative at least two days prior to towing. The current replacement value of the strut and hanger assembly set is $300,000.
