Main Battle Tank Systems (MBTS) is a sub-organization of the US Army’s Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems located at Detroit Arsenal in Michigan. MBTS is soliciting information from companies or teams that can automate some or all of the wire harness production process. Of particular interest are solutions for the tasks of laying wire harnesses and mating wire harness cables to connectors. 2. Currently, the Government estimates it will require batch orders of 30 to 200 harnesses on short notice up to thirty times a year. Companies with a cost effective solution that does not use automation but which can deliver assemblies in a timely fashion are also of interest. Companies or organizations with this capability which could produce wire harnesses domestically and which meet quality standards are encouraged to apply. 3. Request For Information (RFI) Only. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes – it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This RFI does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, the Government is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. The RFI respondees are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party’s expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP, if any is issued.
