The National Defense University (NDU) has a requirement to obtain a 1 year (12 month) contract to acquire licenses for the Academic Microsoft 365 A5 for Faculty (M365 A5) Cloud Collaboration environment to provide critical mission support elements at both the NDU-N (McNair) and NDU-S (Norfolk) campuses. Academic Microsoft 365 A5 for Faculty (M365 A5) is delivered to students, staff, and faculty as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application and includes access both cloud and client based access to the Microsoft Office suite of applications. In addition, Academic Microsoft 365 A5 for Faculty (M365 A5) users have access to Microsoft Teams (formerly Skype for Business), OneDrive, and OneNote. Another key aspect of the Academic Microsoft 365 A5 for Faculty (M365 A5) is that it meets, and exceeds in many areas, the FedRamp Cloud Security Requirements as specified within the NIST 800 series, thereby ensuring that NDU’s data is managed with confidentiality, integrity and availability. Through the cloud service, Office applications can be accessed over the Internet from anywhere at any time and it is a critical component in fulfilling NDU’s mission to “develop joint warfighters and other national security leaders through rigorous academics, research and engagement to serve the common defense.”
