The US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay is located on the southeast corner of Cuba, in the Oriente Province, approximately 400 air miles from Miami, Florida. The base consists of 45 square miles of land and water, with a complete infrastructure, to include an airfield and hospital to support base operations. The primary mission of Guantanamo Bay (GTMO) is to serve as a strategic logistics base for the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet, and support counter drug operations in the Caribbean.
