Shipboard Helicopter Handler Extra Low Profile (SHH-ELP) and the Multi-Aircraft Nose/Tail Integrated System (MANTIS)
The Naval Air Warfare Center is seeking information on a new Shipboard Helicopter Handler II (SHH-II) to replace existing aircraft handlers on both Freedom and Independence Class Littoral Combat Ships, enabling movement of MH-60R and MH-60S helicopters between flight deck and hangar. The SHH-II must be battery-powered with tethered controls, lift up to 8,000 lbs, exert 5,000 lbs drawbar pull, and operate in Sea State 4 conditions. Performance location is aboard LCS ships, with the handler required to be approximately the same size as current models (e.g., SHH-ELP at 137.8 inches long, 81 inches wide). No budget amounts are specified in this Request for Information (RFI), which is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Responses are requested via email before the posting closes, with no contract award resulting from this RFI.
