The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, NJ intends to negotiate on a sole source basis for the issuance of a five (5) year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract with Calzoni SRL for the procurement of Advanced Stabilized Glide Slope Indicator (ASGSI) and Advanced Flight Deck Lighting (AFDL) system components. The ASGSI is a stabilized optical landing aid which the helicopter pilot uses to visually establish and maintain the proper glide slope for approach and landing during day and night ops. The AFDL system components are to support the higher-level assembly for the flight deck suit of lights. The Government intends to procure the above items under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), FAR 6.302-1. Calzoni SRL is the original designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the ASGSI and AFDL Systems and parts to support the fleet. Calzoni owns and maintains the drawings, and are the only source with the knowledge, experience, and technical expertise to produce the parts. This is not a request for competitive proposals. However, responsible sources are encouraged to submit a response to this synopsis in writing that contains information that may be used by the Government to determine whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition based upon response(s) to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
