Naval Air Warfare Center – Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ, intends to solicit, negotiate, and award a purchase order with 21st Century Machine Tools of West Caldwell, NJ, a sole source basis, for the upgrade of a Doosan DNM Machining Center, Model DNM5700, Serial MV0091-002386 manufactured by Doosan Machine Tools America (DMTA). The upgrade will include a 4th Axis with a Samchully rotary table and Buck 6” manual 3 jaw chuck with adapter plate to a Doosan DNM Machining Center with a Oi-MF FANUC Control. Through 21st Century Machine Tools’ exclusive agreement with DMTA, 21st Century Machine Tools is the only source of supply for the parts needed to service this equipment. The Government intends to procure the above services under the statutory authority of Title 10 U.S.C. Section 2304(c)(1) as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Section 6.302-1, only one responsible source. FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii)(A) states services may be deemed to be available only from one responsible source when it is likely that award to any other source would result in a substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition. THIS NOTIFICATION IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. However, all responses received within fifteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government.
