This notice is being published as required by FAR 5.201(b)(1). The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, NJ (NAWCADLKE) intends to award a competitive Firm-Fixed price contract for three (3) Retractable Sheaves (STARBOARD) (Part Number 3941AS0500-2) and three (3) Retractable Sheaves (PORT) (Part Number 3941AS0500-3 ) in support of the CVN81 Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) System. The Contractor shall manufacture the Retractable Sheave Assembly in accordance with Government drawings. The required Retractable Sheave Assemblies are Critical Safety Items (CSIs) and therefore it is the Navy's intent to pursue a limited competition between the following vendors whom are qualified to provide these CSIs: The Entwistle Company, 6 Bigelow Street, Hudson, MA Penn State Tool and Die Shop, 7590 Route 30, Irwin, PA General Tool Company, 101 Landy Ln Cincinnati, OH General Atomics, 3550 General Atomics Ct San Diego, CA NAWCADLKE, Route 547 Lakehurst, NJ The NAICS code associated with this requirement is 333923. The Government intends to procure the above items under the authority of 10 USC 3204(a)(1), FAR 6.302-1. The limited number of responsible sources listed above are the only companies that can meet the agency's need for the Retractable Sheave Assemblies in support of the CVN 81 AAG System. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit a proposal in writing that may be used by the Government in determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
