SOURCES SOUGHT: THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) is seeking additional sources for these coatings in accordance with MIL-C-81945B Coating Compounds, Weapon Insulation, Intumescent for listing on Qualified Products List, QPL-81945. MIL-C-81945B is available at ASSIST https://quicksearch.dla.mil/ and may be obtained by using the "Document Number" search box and entering 81945. The specification covers coating compounds for use on the exterior surfaces of aircraft ordnance to provide protection from high-flux thermal environments. The composition of this coating mixture shall not contain any carcinogenic properties capable of contaminating the environment or endangering human health. These thermal insulating coating compounds are intended for use as exterior protective coatings on aircraft ordnance items. These coatings are formulated to meet applicable environmental conditions and also to delay an explosive reaction when coated ordnance items are exposed to high-flux thermal environments. Usage of the R compounds requires a topcoat in a specified color. Type I compound is intended for spray application. Type II coating compound is intended for use as a hard trowel led repair compound for use in manufacturing. Type III coating is a solid sheet material manufactured from Type II coating. Type III coating is intended to be adhered to an ordnance item in accordance with MIL-STD-2098(AS) Ordnance Preparation and Application of Intumescent Sheet, Type III. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. With respect to products requiring qualification, awards will be made only for products that are, at the time of award of contract, qualified for inclusion in QPL-81945 whether or not such products have actually been so listed by that date. Contractors should be aware of requirements specified in MIL-C-81945B. Manufacturers should arrange to have the products that they propose to offer to the Federal Government tested for qualification in order that they may be eligible to be awarded contracts or orders for the products covered by MIL-C-81945B. Guidance for manufacturers and their authorized distributors who wish to submit products for NAWCAD qualification is available from the Provisions Governing Qualification (SD-6). The SD-6 is available at ASSIST, https://quicksearch.dla.mil/ (enter SD-6 in the “Document ID” search box). Additional information and questions pertaining to qualification of products to MIL-C-81945B may be obtained from rose.webster@navy.mil. Submission Instructions: Interested parties are invited to submit a request for qualification application procedures in response to this Sources Sought Notice via email to rose.webster@navy.mil.
