REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) Automatic Wiring Test Set (AWTS) Naval Air System Command Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division _____________________________________________________________________________ BACKGROUND This RFI is for written information only. Thisis not a solicitaion for proposals, proposal abtracts, or quotations. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. It is not to be construde as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. This RFI does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate. Responders are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party's expense. Definitions The AWTS is made up of a Test Control Unit (TCU), which incorporates the principle measurement functions of the system, and a central processing unit (CPU), which provides the operator interface for the AWTS, executes the test program written for the unit-under-test (UUT), and provides storage for test results. One or more test modules (SMS) may be daisy-chained to the TCU to expand the number of test interface points. The 500VDC TCU provides up to 500VDC test stimulus in a compact enclosure. The AWTS provides UUT test connections for 128 points on the 500VDC TCU. One or more SMS, with 1024 test points each, can be added for up to 15,000 total test points. 128 of the points on the 500V TCU and each SM can be used for applying up to 40DC to the UUT. This gives the AWTS the ability to apply programmable voltages to UUT circuits for testing of relays, lamps, and other electronic components. The AWTS provides the capability to automate the measurement and recording of critical characteristics of circuits in cable and harness UUTS. These characteristics include continuity and isolation, circuit and insulation resistance, capacitance, AC and Dc voltage and current, and dielectric strength. Different test modes are provided, including multi- and single-ended testing (depending upon the UUT characteristics being measured), complete autonomous scanning of the UUT before displaying the results, test halt or hold on the detection of a fault, retest restricted to previously failed circuits, and single step under operator control. The system can execute a learn function, performing a scan of an unknown UUT and generating a schematic or test program based on the circuits detected. Harness assembly is assisted through an interactive test probe interface. Test adapter cable identification is supported where included in the test program and cable design. NAWCADLKE is seeking information for industry regarding the AWTS. Please provide the following information about AWTS. 1. General description of your AWTS 2. Identification of critical requirements for the AWTS 3. Overview of your AWTSconcept of operation 4. Discuss critical information required for the use of your AWTS 5. Describe environmental testing test methods 6. Provide any additional information you desire General Guidelines Your information package should not exceed 10 pages. Any operation manual provided shall not be counted against this page limit. Responses to this RFI should be submitted to theresa.a.temoney@navy.mil no later than 10 days from the date of this posting. Responses to this RFI will not be returned. Respondents will not be notified of the result of the review. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOps) website: www.fbo.gov. It is the potential vendor's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of any follow-on information.
