This is a synopsis for noncommercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, RI intends to release a solicitation for the following Firm Fixed Price item: CLIN 0001: QUANTITY of ONE (1) Tail Section of a NACA0012 Airfoil, comprised of four rigid porous pieces 1. Porous metal NACA0012 tail section comprised of four 1-7/8'' long chordwise sections. Total spanwise length is 24'' 2. Chordwise sections must be at least ¾'' in the spanwise direction to ease assembly 3. Trailing edge and all corners must be sharp, within 0.010 radius 4. Material must be sufficiently strong to permit alignment of the assembly using roll pins 5. Porosity must be nominally uniform and isotropic 6. The final part must be fully porous, without an impermeable "skin" on the machined faces 7. The flow resistivity of the porous part must be between 1.5*10^5 and 1.5*10^7 Pa.s/m^2 8. Test pieces must be produced to demonstrate specs 3-7 This requirement will be unrestricted as concurred with by the NUWCDIVNPT Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this acquisition is 332117. The Small Business Size Standard is 500 Employees.
