The Naval Sea Systems Command Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Underwater Explosions Research Division (UERD) has performed an analysis to determine the environments of Naval Information Warfare Center - Pacific (formerlySSC Pacific) antennas/units located on the main mast of CVN-78 USS Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carriers. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that all of the antennas, with one exception, and an infrared beacon must be shock tested on a specific type of shock machine that is capable of achieving the low frequencies, high velocities, and large displacements presented by the mast environment, as determined by UERD. These machines are the Large-Displacement Shock Simulator (LDSS) Shock Machines. The exception is one antenna, the AS-142, which is deck-mounted on the ship, and shall be tested on the Deck Simulator Shock Machine (DSSM).
