PalmerVent material prevents gas buildup in molds and therefore prevents defects in castings. Defects in casting could cause the castings to be thrown out due to the imperfections. This would cause significant cost impacts to the Government as there would be a duplication of material and labor to recreate the casting. In addition, there would be schedule impacts as additional time would have to be spent on another pour. The risk of the cost and schedule impacts outweighs the cost savings of procuring alternative woven tubes that could possibly satisfy the Government’s needs. Based on the above, the Government shall procure PalmerVent brand specific material only.
