This controller will be utilized on the propulsion system on-board the Polar Star. This equipment is required for this calendar year. Due to the need for this make and model of prime mover and generator controller, it is in the best interest of the government to purchase as a sole source. From the earlier install, Woodward is familiar with the electrical diesel generators on the USCGC Polar Star, affording continuity to the Polar Star and its annual national security mission through common equipment for the sailor. This offers an advantage to using this equipment and will save the government money by reducing programming and set-up costs.
