NCIS requires data storage and networking equipment to expand and update the Cyber network to increase security, reliability, and throughput. The items to be purchased will be integrated with current equipment, and therefore need to be compatible with the existing equipment. Compatible equipment will also allow the Government to maintain one equipment baseline which ultimately ensures compatibility and uniformity. The Dell switches, Mellanox adaptor, and AXIOM hard drives are required to integrate with existing equipment. NCIS has done considerable research to determine that the equipment to be purchased will be compatible with NCIS’s existing infrastructure. In addition, NCIS requires a next-generation security device incorporating a firewall, router, and VPN.
