Base Bid Item: Subject requirement is a design-build construction project to perform repairs to the transformer and electrical equipment in Bldg. No. 339, Dudley Knox Library, at Naval Support Activity Monterey (NSAM). The transformer and electrical equipment which service the library have reached their end of life and are in need of replacement. The medium voltage selector switch cannot be safely operated due to its poor condition. The electrical equipment located in the basement electrical room is subjected to a high humid environment, which has led to corrosion and equipment degradation. The electrical equipment requiring replacement are the following: medium voltage selector switch, pad-mounted oil filled stepdown transformer, and low voltage load center service equipment. The work includes demolition and removal of the existing equipment. The new stepdown transformer, sectionalizing switchgear, and low voltage load center service entrance equipment must be installed outdoors above grade. The contractor shall also provide temporary generator support to Bldg. No. 339 while its existing electrical equipment is being replaced. There are two (2) optional items in addition to the base bid as described above. Option Item One (1)—Photovoltaic Inverter Relocation, Bldg. No. 339: The photovoltaic inverter, servicing the building’s service equipment, is located below grade and is subjected to flooding. The photovoltaic inverter shall be relocated above grade. Option Item Two (2)—Temporary Power, Bldg. No. 310: Provide temporary generator support to Bldg. No. 310 while the existing Bldg. No. 339 electrical equipment is being replaced.
