The Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) has a requirement to receive a wide range of data from the NAVOCEANO survey platforms and satellite programs that provide data services to Navy METOC models and applications. This provides significant quantities of data that NAVOCEANO has to process, store, and deliver using the NAVOCEANO Storage Area Network (NAVOSAN). In order to accommodate this increase in data, significant upgrades to computer hardware, communications infrastructure, and software are required, as well as professional support to integrate the different components to ensure full compatibility with existing NAVOCEANO capabilities. In addition, NAVOCEANO must be able to receive, process and manage the scientific data as it comes on line. The complex level of the individual components and integration required has led to a need to have contractor support to perform performance monitoring and tuning on the integrated systems.
