The Navy intends to award a sole-source firm fixed price purchase order to Mesa Laboratories Inc. for Mesa Labs instrumentation supporting unmanned diving operations inside unmanned hyperbaric chambers at the Navy Experimental Diving Unit. The equipment is needed as new instrumentation for testing diving operations and evaluating diver life support equipment. Mesa Labs instrumentation is described as the only equipment compatible with NEDU’s existing installed hardware, software control systems, and Mesa Labs flow calibration cell units. Using alternate equipment would reportedly be costly in time and dollars and could introduce harmful parameters to diving systems tested and maintained at NEDU. The award is directed to Mesa Labs’ Lakewood Manufacturing Facility in Lakewood, Colorado, with various quantities as requested in the attachments.
