The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, FL (NSWC PCD) intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order using simplified acquisition procedures to Hydroid, Inc. for cables in support of the Lion Hunter project. This procurement is sole source for the following reason: Hydroid, Inc. is the OEM of the equipment listed in this order. In addition, the cables are part of a configuration controlled system. If another product were to be available/chosen, the government would be required to validate the equipment through testing, drawings would have to be revised, and sparing issues would have to be addressed; all of which would result in significant cost to the government as well as project delay.
