Additionally, the cost involved in reverse engineering, produce and revise drawings by using other manufacturer’s slides as the slides are the same of other existing assemblies inside the rack. By using the slides from Jonathan Engineered Solutions all mechanical dimensions and tolerances associated with the assembly remain unchanged. If the Jonathan Engineered Solutions’ slides are not procured the government would have to incur in an extra estimated cost of $80,000 for labor without accounting other logistic and configuration management related cost to update such documentation. In summary, the slides manufactured by JES have been designed and ruggedized to meet harsh shipboard environments. These slides are the only units that are both compatible with the system and meet the stringent U.S. Navy environmental requirements of MIL-STD-810E, the critical shock requirements of MIL-S-901D, the vibration requirements of MIL-STD-167, and the / requirements of MIL-STD-461E. As such, the Government does not expect significant savings through competition and does expects significant and unacceptable delays that will negatively impact this requirement. Therefore, it is in the Governments’ best interest to award on a sole source basis to Jonathan Engineering Solutions. 5.
