The NEC and Arc Flash standards are periodically updated and this class will provide PSNS personnel with an in depth review of the NEC and ARC flash standards to include all the latest changes for the 2020 code update. Engineering uses the NEC and ARC flash standards to write instructions and procedures to ensure safe wiring and electrical standards are implemented. The safety office uses the NEC to ensure safe wiring and electrical installation standards are being followed. The electricians within the shipyard are required to wire and install electrical services in accordance with the NEC; they use the NEC as a guide to ensure they are installing electrical systems in a standard and safe manner.
