The work consists of , measure initial insulation resistance values , complete SSMG set disassembly including rigging and inspection of all machine components , measure bearing seat dimensions , accomplish in-place detergent/water cleaning of SSMG set to include air cooler , static exciter , rotor and stationary field windings , repair defective insulation , replace field leads as required , stone commutator (remove a minimum 0 . 010 " of material) , stone/polish slip rings as required , undercut and bevel commutator , if necessary , replace ac and de bearings from GFM supplied by Ship ' s Force , replace ac and de bearing cartridges from GFM supplied by Ship ' s Force , replace ac/dc/overspeed brushes from GFM supplied by Ship ' s Force , replace air filters from GFM supplied by Ship ' s Force , repair the commutator V- ring band epoxy seal , reinsulate windings , repair or replace stripped fasteners and repair threaded bolt holes as required , torque check bolted electrical connections , replace defective/disturbed Belleville washers , replace defective access cover gaskets , reassemble SSMG set , install and seat new brushes , set neutral plane , accomplish close- out inspection , and operational testing , and submit final report following completion IAW Reference (1) NAVSEA s9086-KC-STM-010/CH- 300 R9 Chapter 300 Electric Plant , Reference (2)Maintenance Standard MS3140-081-046 , Rev A Chg 2, and Reference (3)DC/AC or AC/DC Motor Generator Set and Associated Control Equipment S6269-AW- MMM- 010 Rev 2 Chg L.
