The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS&IMF) is conducting a market survey to determine the interest and capability of Industry to participate in a competitive acquisition for the design, fabrication, and delivery of Shielded Shipping Containers (Casks). PSNS&IMF intends to use the casks as Type A packages or General Design packages in accordance with Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR) for shipment of demineralizers and associated radioactive contents over public highways. See attached Ordering Data Sheet (ODS) for further detail. COMPLETE SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS WILL BE PROVIDED IN THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) The primary North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 332439 and the Small Business size standard is 500. It is anticipated that the Request for Proposal (RFP) will be posted on 5 June 2019. The resulting contract is anticipated to be an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract type with a 5 year ordering period that includes a quantity of 4 casks in the base years and 2 casks each year for the remaining 4 years, for a contract total of 12 casks. It does not restrict the Government from deciding the ultimate acquisition approach. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any costs incurred in preparation of a response to this notice. Any information submitted by respondents to this technical description is strictly voluntary. The Government intends to set-aside this acquisition to small business. Therefore, result of this notice will determine if small businesses possess the capability to perform the requirements within this acquisition. Respondents need to indicate all small business socioeconomic designations (i.e. 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB). Interested business firms that meet the capability requirements identified in this notice are requested to respond to this notice. Based upon small business responses received, consideration will be given to defining what part of the acquisition, if any, will be set-aside for small business competition.
