A September 18, 2026 amendment converts this procurement to a sole-source award to Chromalox for heat tracing strip tape, Chromalox P/N 382758, at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Portsmouth, VA. The government initially received multiple small-business offers, but third-party sources introduced substantial price increases and did not provide a cost-effective or viable alternative to the OEM. The requirement will therefore be a brand-name sole-source acquisition from Chromalox, the OEM, or its authorized distributors, with no substitutes allowed to avoid malfunction, inoperability, and vessel work package delays.
