Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), in support of the CVN-77 FY19 Docking Planned Incremental Availability, is seeking information on Contractor and Marketplace capacity and capability to replace JP-5 Piping Joints throughout various tanks and spaces aboard the USS George H.W. Bush. Thin walled (Schedule 10) CRES 316L pipe (ref. 1) has been used in JP-5 fuel systems (ref. 2) aboard certain Naval Vessels. The pipe joint design uses a belled end fitting creating an inherent crevice. The thinness of this piping may lead to poor weld quality at the welded joints which can cause additional crevices within the pipe joint. Crevices create areas for corrosion to form, eventually resulting in leakage across the pipe joint. Any potential Contractor shall provide all materials and services needed to repair identified JP-5 Joints aboard the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77). The general replacement process also includes the removal of the existing, damaged pipe and joint, as well as all other required pipe-fitting procedures to allow for the installation and welding of the replacement pipe and joint. Tool air, electric power, and water will be provided at the riser; Contractor will be responsible from the riser to the job site.
