The NEXCOM building is composed of three floors with a mechanical penthouse. It is a structural steel framed building with columns supported on spread footings, and the building has a brick veneer. This project shall provide removal and replacement of a roof top forced draft closed circuit cooler (CCC) and associated structural steel support framing at the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) building. The roof deck is primarily supported by open web joists and joist girders. The structural bay where the existing rooftop CCC is located is primarily composed of wide flange beams with infilled open web joists. The existing roof top CCC and associated steel support framing is structurally supported by the wide flange beams within the aforementioned structural bay. No existing joists support the existing rooftop CCC. All building systems such as Architectural, Structural, Electrical, and Fire Protection will be modified to accommodate the mechanical work.
