This project is located in Building 68 of Naval Station Newport Located on Pier 2. The building is concrete and metal siding and has office spaces and storage and maintenance for the Pier operations. There is an existing sewer hose room 22’x60’ in the north side of the facility. The room holds the sewage hoses for USCG ship for utility connections when the hoses are not in use. The racks and storage provide space for the repair, maintenance and storage of the sewage transfer hoses. They support port operations and the coast guard ships home ported at the Pier 2. This project shall retrofit the space with a cleaning system for the hoses and upgrade the ventilation to help with odor control when the space is occupied. There are currently three tiers of racks double sided within the space. Each rack can hold multiple hoses. The room also contains four steam unit heaters for heating in the winter. There is a roof top unit that is no longer working that has duct work into the space. The unit on the roof is past its service life and needs replacement. Ductwork appears to be in good condition and shall be reused to minimize cost.
