DESIGN-BID-BUILD, P-381, MULTI-MISSION DRY DOCK #1 LOCATED AT PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD IN KITTERY, MAINE This project constructs a partitioned addition to dry dock #1 (DD1) w ithin the superflood basin area. The addition w ill consist of tw o bays, labeled dry dock #1 North (DD1N) and dry dock #1 West (DD1W). The existing dry dock #1 w ill be renamed dry dock #1 East. Both DD1N and DD1W w ill be of sufficient size and depth to support the maintenance and overhaul of Virginia (VA) Class submarines, Blocks I-IV. New construction w ill include concrete floors, w alls, and center w all separating DD1N and DD1W, new pump w ell systems, pump station building, portal crane rails, mooring hardw are, mechanical and electrical utilities, utility tunnels, and all appurtenances required to ensure an operational dry dock. Modifications w ill be made to the existing basin closure w all and to Berths 1 and 11 to prevent undermining and support fully dew atered conditions. The existing DD1 pumpw ell w ill be connected to the new pumpw ell system and the interior modified.
